10.9T is a high-strength steel classification for bolts, specifically used in Japanese (JIS) and Korean (KS) standards. These are made from SCM435 (Chrome Molybdenum steel, or "Chromoly") which has been quenched and tempered.

Fine pitch means that the thread is 1.0mm for M8, 1.25 for M10 and M12, and 1.5 for M14.

Available in sizes M8 to M36. Contact us to check availability and pricing of specific sizes.

Here is what the code means:

  • 10 (First Number): The tensile strength. Multiply by 100 to get the total breaking point: 1000 MPa (approx.100 kg/mm2).

  • 9 (Second Number): The yield point (the point where the bolt permanently stretches). The "9" means it will hold 90% of its strength without permanent deformation: 900 MPa.

  • The "T" stands for Tensile. It signifies that the bolt is a friction-type high-strength hexagonal bolt set (usually including the bolt, a nut, and two washers).

Three types of treatments are proposed:

- Black Oxide coating. This is the usual coating for these bolts.

- Silver colored zinc plating

- Chromate plating for resistance to corrosion. This gives the bolt a yellow, iridescent, or gold-tinted finish.
